Chhattisgarh recalculates its variable dearness allowance (VDA) twice a year, each time fixing rates for the following six-month window. For the period 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026, the Office of the Labour Commissioner raised the VDA after the average Consumer Price Index for industrial workers (base 1986-87=100) rose by 11.28 points over the previous half-year. Wages also vary by zone - A, B and C - based on where the establishment is located.

Two things to check first

The basic minimum wage stays the same across this cycle; only the VDA column has moved, to Rs. 118.54 a month for every category and zone. Zone depends on the establishment's location - Zone A covers Raipur, Durg, Bhilai, Bhilai-Charoda and Birgaon municipal corporations (plus 16 km around them) and all industrial areas, Zone B covers eight other named municipal corporations (plus 8 km around them), and Zone C is everywhere else.

Every figure is taken from the live wage table published on Simpliance for Chhattisgarh, effective 1 April 2026. Total wages per month is the basic plus VDA per month; total wages per day is the basic plus VDA per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

The monthly wage of an employee engaged on a monthly basis is calculated by dividing by 30.
This already factors in the weekly day of rest as contemplated under section 13(1)(b) of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

Every state revises wages on its own calendar. Payroll has to keep up with all of them.

HONO builds statutory compliance into the payroll calculation itself, so wage floors, PF, ESI and Professional Tax are applied per state and per employee class rather than reconciled afterwards.
