Uttar Pradesh notified fresh minimum wages on 17 April 2026 as interim relief, following labour unrest in Noida and Greater Noida where workers demanded rates on the Haryana pattern. The rates apply from 1 April 2026 and supersede the Labour Commissioner's order of 25 March 2026. What is new is geography: the state is split into three categories of district, so the same skill grade carries three different wage floors depending on where the worker is employed.

Two things to check first

Brick kilns are excluded from this order, since their wages are fixed on a piece-rate basis, and they continue under the superseded notification. Find your district category before your skill grade, because the district decides the rate first.

Wage Rates by District Category and Class of Worker

All figures come from the notification and are monthly. Total is basic wage plus variable dearness allowance, and is the figure the employer must pay. The order publishes no daily rate and no day divisor.

Frequently Asked Questions

The revision follows labour unrest in Noida and Greater Noida. The Additional Labour Commissioner, Noida, reported the outcome of talks between employer and worker representatives, in which the workers' central demand was that Uttar Pradesh minimum wages be raised on the pattern of Haryana.

On 13 April 2026 the State Government constituted a High Level Committee under the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, with five worker and three employer representatives. The Committee met workers, occupiers and contractors in the district the same day, and this order followed on 17 April 2026.

Every state revises wages on its own calendar. Payroll has to keep up with all of them.

HONO builds statutory compliance into the payroll calculation itself, so wage floors, PF, ESI and Professional Tax are applied per state and per employee class rather than reconciled afterwards.
